I admit it, I am a sucker for England Dan and John Ford Coley. I am embarassed by a lot of the old sappy stuff I like, but ED&JFC actually holds up for me.
Jim Croce is hit and miss with me, but this one was a hit, as far as I was concerned. It, too, holds up.
I was going to throw in a Paul Davis song, but he doesn’t have the mustache (the full beard doesn’t count).

For a few years after first hearing “Operator,” I assumed that that was Elton John.
And how is Freddie Mercury not in this post?
I keep hoping Ron Swanson brings the mustache back in full force. It looks cool as hell when grown properly.
ED&JFC has a very unwieldy name. Did you know that ED’s brother is Seals?
Jim Croce has the advantage of dying young. “I Got a Name” is timeless. I also went to a wedding where “Time in a Bottle” was performed. It took every ounce of self control to NOT yell out: Now do Bad Bad Leroy Brown.
As for Queen, I am partial to “Don’t Stop Me Now”, even though their biggest hits were “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” and “Another One Bites the Dust”.
The most famous stache rock band is Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. (They hope you will enjoy the show)
Though I guess Freddie Mercury’s moustache wasn’t really bushy enough to be called a ‘stache.

I love the verse. The chorus is kind of meh. Now that I think about it, I feel this way about a lot of songs. For some reason, this seems backwards to me. If you’re going to repeat the words, you should make the music compelling.

Waste of perfectly good self-control, if you ask me.
I don’t know that mustaches are ever okay. Even on Ron Swanson.
Mike’s comment reminded me of a class car audio commercial. I can’t seem to find the full version anywhere, though, to make it a HCW post.
There was an ED&JFC reference on Modern Family last night.
