Yeah, this is pretty much what almost every middle school kid wants to hear. Truthfully, at my middle school, most of the worst flamed out by high school. I don’t think that’s especially typical, though.

I find it hard to disagree with this: The Samsung whistle really is horrible and it’s the first thing I change when personalizing a Samsung device.

There is a class divide when it comes to choosing one’s major. It corresponds with my experience this it tends to be wealthier kids studying English, to the point that you can almost see a class divide at extended family gatherings.

About the “cool kids” – I never was even remotely cool. I think I MIGHT have felt better if I had known the results of that story. (As it was, I got moved into prep school so I didn’t see most of my former classmates, and didn’t see ANY of them once college rolled around).

Still, for the time you’re in middle school or junior high, being an uncool “outcast” is pretty hellish. Or at least it is for girls; uncool girls were mostly ostracized and shunned.

I’m still not cool but it matters less once you are an adult.

That is about how I would envision driverless cars.

FWIW, that’s the real benefit of the law, especially for those that are covered under the Medicaid expansion. Even for those paying for plans, a hospital stay is somewhat less spooky given that you’re no longer at the mercy of a hospital charging full price.

I dunno about the Samsung whistle. It’s annoying but I’ve heard far worse ringtones. I had a student once who had a warning klaxon sound – you do NOT want that going off in the middle of lab. (I have a policy that students are supposed to turn their cell phones off in class, but most people forget or “forget.”)

I also once was sitting in a church meeting when one of the other women’s cell phones went off. Her ringtone was the song “Bad to the Bone.” It was a while before we let her forget about that. (That wasn’t so *terrible*, just kind of inappropriate and funny)

The Samsung whistle is obnoxious in part because it’s so ubiquitous. It’s that annoying song that wouldn’t be the most annoying song if it weren’t played on the radio every five minutes.

Fair enough. I don’t have many people around me with Samsung devices. But I have had more than one student with that damned warning klaxon as their ringtone….
